How to Use a Stun Gun

A stun gun is an Electronic Immobilization Device that emits high voltage shock. They are legal in most states, but I would check stun gun laws before purchasing to make sure. Most merchants have these posted on their websites. When the stun gun is applied to an attacker (human, dog or other) they are immobilized for up to several minutes with no permanent damage.  The electric shock paralyzes the muscles, making the body feel heavy and unable to move.

Stun guns range from $18- to $79, depending on the brand, style etc. Keep in mind also when you hit someone with a stun gun that you need to hit them in the torso area. Otherwise, you will not get the effects you are looking for and their muscles wont be paralyzed at all.

Stun guns don’t rely on high amperage for results. They are designed to key into the nervous system, interrupting tiny neurological impulses that travel through the whole body as well as instantly burning blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid similar to that of extremely vigorous exercise.

The assailant’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the EID, disorientation and loss of balance occur and direct voluntary muscle movement is lost. If you accidentally touch the body of the attacker, no current will pass through your system.

To operate push the stun guns on button and it will discharge at the top between the probes. Many times an attacker will retreat from hurting you just by seeing or hearing the stun gun. It does have a very intimidating sound.

How do I use a stun gun?To use a stun gun, hold the electrodes firmly against an attacker. Target an area that is harder and slower to move like the upper shoulder or the upper hip. The arms or hands are not good attack points because they can be moved away too quickly. To completely subdue the attacker, the stun gun must be continuously applied for a few seconds. More time is required if the person is large, or you are using a low voltage model.

Will a stun gun work on those under the influence?

Yes. Stun guns work on those under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, but effects on a person under the influence can vary, to be safe, follow instructions on hitting them in the right area and use higher voltage models.

What difference does the voltage make?

Usually, the higher the voltage, the quicker the full effect of the stun gun, and the more effective it is. Besides voltage, the delivery method and the amperage of the charge are also important. A lower voltage stun gun with a better method of delivery may be more effective then the stun gun with higher voltage. The Taser only uses 50,000 volts, but it can touch anywhere on the body and still work and since it shoots out, it has a better delivery method.

Can a stun gun be fired multiple times?

Yes. A stun gun can be used many times to ward off attackers before the battery needs recharging. To be really safe it is best to carry a stun gun and a pepper spray, since the stun gun is best for an up close attack and the pepper spray for one 4-6 feet away.

Can a stun gun stop an attack from a dog?

YES!  It is a great idea to have a stun gun if you are in fear of a dog. There are also dog repellents available that use a high pitch sound only the dog can hear, but trust me, they do not like it!

Online Buying is Just So Much Easier

Recently, I had several specific things to buy. I needed a red table cloth for a gun show I was doing, which needed to big enough for a table that is 8 ft by 2 1/2. I also needed to get those 4×3 or 4×6 notebooks of paper which gather information from customers like name, address and email. I thought these would be two very simple items that I could easily get within 30 minutes at the shopping center that has a Wal Mart, Staples and a Bed Bad and Beyond.

However, after wasting time and gas to get up there, I find that Wal Mart does not have the cloth I am looking for. So I go to Bed Bad and Beyond, they surely would even if costs more. Wrong again, the cloths were too small and would not cover a table top to bottom. I was very frustrated because now a total of 45 minutes had gone by and mission was far from being accomplished.

I go to Staples, I find a couple of other things I hadn’t thought I needed but did. However, the little notebook I need to get people’s contact information is no where to be found. They can custom make one for me for more than I want to pay and it would take 7-10 business days to get there. So then  I figure I would just go to Office Max,but to my surprise the closest one is one hour away.

I ended up making my own notebook to get people’s information from and the cloth I never found after several other attempts. Finally I just bought one online because I was done wasting time driving to places and being disappointed. The point here is this is exactly why I like buying things online. You don’t waste any time, any gas and if you know what you are looking for chances are you will find it cheaper more easily online.

Last year to avoid herd of crowds, which I cannot stand I did all my shopping online for Christmas, and this year will be no different. It is especially hard to go shopping now for me since I always know what I want and stores in the area seldom have it. I end up buying more stuff online and from catalogs than anything else. Thank God  for the internet!
