A stun gun is an Electronic Immobilization Device that emits high voltage shock. They are legal in most states, but I would check stun gun laws before purchasing to make sure. Most merchants have these posted on their websites. When the stun gun is applied to an attacker (human, dog or other) they are immobilized for up to several minutes with no permanent damage. The electric shock paralyzes the muscles, making the body feel heavy and unable to move.

Stun guns range from $18- to $79, depending on the brand, style etc. Keep in mind also when you hit someone with a stun gun that you need to hit them in the torso area. Otherwise, you will not get the effects you are looking for and their muscles wont be paralyzed at all.

Stun guns don’t rely on high amperage for results. They are designed to key into the nervous system, interrupting tiny neurological impulses that travel through the whole body as well as instantly burning blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid similar to that of extremely vigorous exercise.

The assailant’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the EID, disorientation and loss of balance occur and direct voluntary muscle movement is lost. If you accidentally touch the body of the attacker, no current will pass through your system.

To operate push the stun guns on button and it will discharge at the top between the probes. Many times an attacker will retreat from hurting you just by seeing or hearing the stun gun. It does have a very intimidating sound.

How do I use a stun gun?To use a stun gun, hold the electrodes firmly against an attacker. Target an area that is harder and slower to move like the upper shoulder or the upper hip. The arms or hands are not good attack points because they can be moved away too quickly. To completely subdue the attacker, the stun gun must be continuously applied for a few seconds. More time is required if the person is large, or you are using a low voltage model.

Will a stun gun work on those under the influence?

Yes. Stun guns work on those under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, but effects on a person under the influence can vary, to be safe, follow instructions on hitting them in the right area and use higher voltage models.

What difference does the voltage make?

Usually, the higher the voltage, the quicker the full effect of the stun gun, and the more effective it is. Besides voltage, the delivery method and the amperage of the charge are also important. A lower voltage stun gun with a better method of delivery may be more effective then the stun gun with higher voltage. The Taser only uses 50,000 volts, but it can touch anywhere on the body and still work and since it shoots out, it has a better delivery method.

Can a stun gun be fired multiple times?

Yes. A stun gun can be used many times to ward off attackers before the battery needs recharging. To be really safe it is best to carry a stun gun and a pepper spray, since the stun gun is best for an up close attack and the pepper spray for one 4-6 feet away.

Can a stun gun stop an attack from a dog?

YES! It is a great idea to have a stun gun if you are in fear of a dog. There are also dog repellents available that use a high pitch sound only the dog can hear, but trust me, they do not like it!

http://www.myselfdefensestore.com talks about a new software to help you spy on your kids' activities online. This computer spying software is affordable and stealth, giving you full parental control.

When surfing the net, computer exploration opens a world of possibilities for children, expanding their horizons and exposing them to different cultures and ways of life. However, they can be exposed to dangers as they hit the road exploring the information highway. Advances in computer and communication technology allow your children to connect with complete strangers in a countless number of ways.

As parents you want to keep your children safe, but there is only so much you can do. You simply cannot sit behind them every minute they are on-line, and if you did sooner or later they would resent you for it and that would bring a whole other set of issues. Thankfully, many are aware of how dangerous the internet can be for kids, and have a devised a way to know exactly what they are doing.

The IntelliSpy COMPUTER ACTIVITY TRACKING SOFTWARE gives you the ability to track what your child does every time they get on the computer. Think of it as a computer parental control. You have a right to know and to protect your child. This child spy software lets you see everything typed onto the keyboard…this includes emails, instant messages, and social networking activity. It certain is computer spying made easy and affordable, costing only $69!

It also takes screenshots of the screen taken at 1 minute intervals. Blocks web sites and limits access to web sites that you feel are inappropriate for your child. Last, it is completely Stealth and if someone unknowingly closes the program or shuts down the computer, the program will restart.

You may think it is inappropriate to do computer spying on your children this way, but what if they are talking to a stranger who they plan on meeting? What is that stranger is a sex offender who is 40 or 50 years old? Many child molesters and overall sick people are turning to the internet to catch their next prey. By using child spy software, you can protect your children and know all that is going on in that computer and have full computer parental control.

I remember when I was a little girl and we were vacationing on the East Coast. This was the first time I was introduced to airsoft pistols. I had an absolute blast shooting at cans and learning how to handle a gun for the first time, even if it wasn’t a real gun.

What I love about airsoft spring guns, is how real they look and feel. If it wasn’t for the bb’s and the orange thing at the end, I would not know the difference. Many gun aficionados are probably going to kill me for saying that, but it is true.

The great thing about airsoft pistols or any airsoft spring guns for that matter, is that they are a great way for families to bond. That is why, when I think of airsoft pistols or guns, I remember that time in the backyard shooting at cans with all the kids and my parents. It was so fun, that I don’t remember a lot of things from my childhood, but that I just wont forget.

If you a parent looking for a way to bond with your children, this is a great way. And no, you are not teaching them to be violent or like guns, you should teach them to respect guns and the proper handling of them. Explain how even the bb gun can hurt someone and they should be careful. Make sure they don’t try to shoot at birds or other animals. Keep it strictly cans and targets.

If you are looking to buy airsoft guns, you can go to www.myselfdefensestore.com to find a great selection of airsoft pistols, airsoft riles and co2 airsoft guns.

Owning a self defense and surveillance company, I always get asked a lot of questions about the products. So to help you guys out there, I want to cover the differences between wired, wireless and DVR hidden cameras also referred to as nanny cams.

A wired hidden camera has a wire from it that needs to connect to your recording device like a VCR, DVR or monitor. Sometimes this shouldn’t be a problem, depending on where the camera needs to be placed and how it looks, so that the wire does not look too suspicious. One good thing about wired nanny cams or hidden cameras is that they will not be interrupted by other devices like cell phones.

A wireless hidden camera is great because as the name says, there are no additional wires coming out of it, making it look more stealth. They normally come with a receiver, which is were the video signal is transmitted to. That receiver is then connected to the recording device. Most hidden cameras have a range of 1,000 feet, with high power ones being able to be up to 2,500 feet away from the receiver. You need to be careful though, since sometimes a cell phone may interrupt the video.

The most inclusive hidden camera or nanny cam is the DVR hidden camera. These devices record everything on an 8 GB SD card which goes right into the camera. You set it up on a screen, then when you are done you leave it to record as you set it. When you are ready to watch your recording, simply take out the 8 GB SD card and insert that into your computer. This is by far the simplest method, however these types of hidden cameras are more expensive.

If you are looking to buy a hidden camera, you can find board cameras from $30 all the way up to the DVR hidden cameras which may run $400- $600. Everything really depends on your budget and needs. Also, which model attracts you more. There are nanny cams that look like alarm clocks, fans, thermostats, teddy bears, just all kinds of cool stuff. If you have questions about these devices, or want to see what some look like, visit my website at www.myselfdefensestore.com. If you would like to ask me any questions, my email is listed under contact us, please don’t hesitate to ask.

http://www.myselfdefensestore.com explains how to use a stun gun, pepper spray and taser, which are the most popular non lethal weapons on the market. For more information, please visit our website.

There are various non-lethal weapons available on the internet today to help people protect themselves at home. The most common non-lethal weapons include stun guns, pepper sprays, and tasers. For the sake of this article, we will stick to these three weapons mentioned above.

A stun gun will normally run anywhere from $20-$70 depending on the voltage and brand. There are many styles to choose from including regular stun guns, stun batons, and cell phone stun guns. Many even include flashlights like the stun baton and the cell phone stun gun, to blind your assailant if being attacked at night before you stun them.

To use a stun gun, you need hit the stun button and make sure you hit the person on the neck, torso or thigh area. If not, you will not get the results you are looking for. Also, be sure not to play with your stun gun all the time, since this may cause it not to work properly. Stun guns are great devices to use if being attacked from behind or by surprise, since they need to make contact with the skin. The ones that come in disguise are my favorite for obvious reasons.

One of the best non-lethal weapons for self defense is hands down the taser. These are great because they can be used when being attacked up close or far away. They shoot out two cables up to 15 feet away and send through that 50,000 volts. With a taser, you can hit the person anywhere on the body to get good results. Also, if you are being attacked up close, it can be used as a stun gun as well. The best thing about them however, is that they are the only non lethal weapon that has a lifetime warranty! What more do you want?

Third, but not least there is the pepper spray. These are great if you see the attacker coming up or feel threatened and you spray someone. When someone is sprayed, their eyes will clamp shut for 30 minutes and if they rub their eyes, which most likely they will, the pain gets worse. It also slows down their breathing, so your assailant will have no chance at getting at you even if they are drunk or on drugs. Its best not to use this with an attack up close in case you accidentally get some of the spray on yourself, then it defeats the purpose.

Most pepper sprays have a range of 4-6 feet and some go up to 10 or 15. Mace makes a pepper spray that comes in a gun that shoots out to 25 feet and you can refill it. I love this because if you are getting attacked by a group of people, it is the best and only non lethal weapon to use in that situation.

I hope you enjoyed this article and learned about some ways to protect yourself with non lethal weapons. You never think something is going to happen to you, until it does or it happens to a loved one. By that point it is too late. Don’t wait until something horrible happens before you take charge of your precious life and take precautions to keep you safe. If you have questions about these products go to www.myselfdefensestore.com and shoot me an email. My email is on the website and I will gladly answer any questions.

There are also dog repellents available that use a high pitch sound only the dog can hear, but trust me, they do not like it!

http://www.myselfdefensestore.com explains the difference between a wireless hidden camera or a wired and the pros and cons of each. Hidden cameras are often also referred to as nanny cams.

There are many reasons why you would choose a wired hidden camera or many reasons to choose the wireless hidden or nanny cameras. The things you should consider when it comes to purchasing wired or wireless security cameras include the size of your home or property, the placement of the cameras, the cost and what budget you have available for this. Wireless hidden cameras are becoming more affordable all the time, but wireless security cameras also tend to be a little more expensive than wired security cameras.

This is rightfully so however, since the wireless hidden camera is so easy to use. The way they work is they have a built in transmitter that sends the video signal to a receiver that is connected to a DVR or VCR. A wired hidden camera has a video cable that runs from the camera to the viewing or recording device. If you are trying to be really stealth, the wireless is the way to go.

Another thing to consider is the distance of the signal for wireless hidden cameras. Some wireless security cameras offer only one hundred feet for a signal, but other wireless nanny cameras can go up to one thousand feet. Read this in the description before purchasing if you need a thousand feet. A wireless hidden camera with a long signal is very convenient because you can place them in many different, hard-to-reach spots, without worrying about wires or cords. This means you can have your wireless security cameras in areas that didn’t have the proper outlets for regular wired security cameras.

But wireless security cameras are not the only option, or always the best option. Wired security cameras also have their benefits. For one thing, wired security cameras tend to be more cost effective, so this is better for you if you are in a budget. Another reason, you never have to worry about dropping the signal. You also do not have to worry about something obstructing or otherwise affecting the wired security cameras signal like cell phones. Wired security cameras can be placed almost anywhere wireless security cameras can be placed, and there are ways to hide the cords and wires that are attached to the wired hidden cameras.

Another type of camera to consider is the DVR wireless hidden camera, but we will save that information for the next article, so stay tuned. If you are looking to purchase a wireless hidden camera, you can find many with free shipping at www.myselfdefensestore.com.

Stun guns have long been used as an effective form of self defense, and they have a certain look to them that when you see it you know what it is. Now however, manufacturers have come out with the cell phone stun gun. It looks just like a cell phone, but in fact it is not.

Some come in voltage of 800,000 and others almost 1 million volts! You only need 50,000 volts to take down a 250 lbs man, when you multiply that by 10 or 20, it is some powerful voltage that will take anyone down. Tasers only have 50,000 volts and they work absolutely great, so when you get into the hundreds of thousands or millions of volts, you have with you a very powerful weapon. The best part is, it not lethal, so you can escape and not have to worry about going through trial because no one will be killed.

I personally like the pink cell phone stun gun, known as the Pretender that also comes with a holster, so you can have it hanging on your jeans. In case of an attack it is readily available, whereas if it was in your bag, you may not have time to get to it and turn it on.

The cell phone stun gun is becoming a favorite among consumers because of the disguise factor. They truly do look like a cell phone, so try and keep it away from children if you have any. Most are found in high voltage, which will be better in an attack than the lower voltage items.

I heard a story recently about a seventeen year old girl who was robbed, raped and killed. The attackers grabbed her and pulled a knife a on her. They made her get on the phone and have her parents wire her money. After they got the money, they decided to have some fun with her.

First they raped her and after she was of no more use to them, they killed her. The reason I am telling you this story is because it could have been prevented. If this girl had been carrying a cell phone stun gun, when they made her call her parents, that would have been the perfect time to pull it out and stun them. If she was even more prepared and had a cell phone stun gun and a pepper spray to get the other guy she would have got away and avoided this painful death.

The problem with people is that they never think things will happen to them, until it happens to a loved one or them. If it happens to them, by that time it is too late and the damage is done. If it happenes to someone they know, then that wakes them up, but come on, is that what you need to take charge of your life? You need to protect yourself because you just never know. A violent crime occurred while you are reading this article, and I bet you the person it happened to was not expecting it and was not prepared for it.

If they were prepared, they would spare their life. Don’t let yourself become a victim. Don’t walk around in fear any longer. Do something about it, and it can be as simple as just carrying a cell phone stun gun or some other device for protection. You don’t always need a gun, non-lethal self defense products work just as good, if not better because you don’t have to worry about making sure the police understand it was self defense.

Recently, I had several specific things to buy. I needed a red table cloth for a gun show I was doing, which needed to big enough for a table that is 8 ft by 2 1/2. I also needed to get those 4×3 or 4×6 notebooks of paper which gather information from customers like name, address and email. I thought these would be two very simple items that I could easily get within 30 minutes at the shopping center that has a Wal Mart, Staples and a Bed Bad and Beyond.

However, after wasting time and gas to get up there, I find that Wal Mart does not have the cloth I am looking for. So I go to Bed Bad and Beyond, they surely would even if costs more. Wrong again, the cloths were too small and would not cover a table top to bottom. I was very frustrated because now a total of 45 minutes had gone by and mission was far from being accomplished.

I go to Staples, I find a couple of other things I hadn’t thought I needed but did. However, the little notebook I need to get people’s contact information is no where to be found. They can custom make one for me for more than I want to pay and it would take 7-10 business days to get there. So then I figure I would just go to Office Max,but to my surprise the closest one is one hour away.

I ended up making my own notebook to get people’s information from and the cloth I never found after several other attempts. Finally I just bought one online because I was done wasting time driving to places and being disappointed. The point here is this is exactly why I like buying things online. You don’t waste any time, any gas and if you know what you are looking for chances are you will find it cheaper more easily online.

Last year to avoid herd of crowds, which I cannot stand I did all my shopping online for Christmas, and this year will be no different. It is especially hard to go shopping now for me since I always know what I want and stores in the area seldom have it. I end up buying more stuff online and from catalogs than anything else. Thank God for the internet!
